The SEO thing worked!

After updating my shop information - adding information and updating some - i made 2 more sales from a collector in Germany... weeee .... that was an early christmas gift alright! And of course, the best-selling romper made it, as well as the Sunday Flea Market outfit, which are now flying to the European continent to get to their new home.

I am truly thankful to my fellow etsians who have unconditionally provided me sensible tips as to how I market my products and get my shop out there. When i get back (as I am on holiday vacation out of town), I will be revamping my listings, and... moving on to an AtelierniShasha-dedicated blog. It doesn't mean though that I will be leaving shasews. shasews will always be here for my other sewing adventures :) Next up, in fact, I will be featuring the dress I have sewn (and some parts, hand-sewn) for my momma - a party dress for her cocktail-themed Christmas party. It's not very fancy, but I think I have achieved what I have set myself, given my very limited experience in making clothes.

So, the new blog should be named ateliernishasha, still on blogger but I also aim at activating the one I once made from Weebly. I will update once I have them up both. ateliernishasha.blogspot.com is gonna be focused on updates, and everything about running the shop - pretty much shasews but more stuff this time. The Weebly thing will be more of product announcements and will be picture-laden, than my ramblings.

I get excited to pump up my efforts in ateliernishasha every day, for just so many reasons. Sewing or creating something is really one thing I have been doing since i was a kid. I get excited every time i get my hands on my tools, my fabrics, and drawing/putting on paper my designs. I can see myself in my workshop 20-30 years later - cheesy but true. :)

Before the year ends, i'd like to thank my family for all the support, my friends who are my number one fans and to everyone who make my dreams come true. Without these people, my vision will remain in the corners of my mind, aching to be heard, seen. Thanks, 2011. I am excited for you, 2012 and I expect more beautiful things with you.

SEO time...

I created help threads in etsy today to simply ask why i'm only getting 3 sales the past 3 months.
A lot of people really spent time helping me with their tips, and the most common things they mention are:

* i suck at SEO, and
* my photos have distracting background

I totally agree! That's why I was chomping this very helpful SEO article while I was on my way home, and I will be updating my etsy shop and listings like i've never done before heheheh boy, am i excited!

also, i plan to take new sets of photos of my items, and re-list them too...

talk about running an online shop like you really mean it! :)

The Assured dress

I know I have been keeping two of the fabrics I really wanted to make something out of - the pink stretch lace and houndstooth ones. So I finally did something - and this one can be bought at my ETSY shop, ateliernishasha.

One Sassy Romper to go --- to France :)

Yay, another sale from my Etsy shop - the Sassy Romper! I'm so proud of this one because I have wrote about how I had to make my own patterns just to get the right fit, and voila, people are liking it!

The Sassy Romper

And what makes it neater is that someone from France is giving this little cutesy to a friend of hers. Isn't that fantastic to hear your little handmade given as gift? I mean, well, I've been giving friends my handmades since I was young and I believe it's truly special. :)

For today, I will be reassessing my goals for this month. Here they are:

1. Make 3 more outfits based on my leggings, already did one for the white legging. Fuchsia, Black and the Animal print leggings should come with their matching tops and accessories WITHIN the WEEK. Yes. So today, I will come up with all three tops and the accessories - purse and jewelry. The shooting maybe done next weekend or during lunch time near the park. This is creative moment, and I feel this way today so i gotta hurry with this write-up.

2. Secondly, I had to do spares for the following, just in case I get repeat orders:
   * 16 Leggings, 2 each type per doll size Yes, I should be including the Barbie sizes now since I'm gonna be showcasing my stuff at the art trade show. - Deadline is this coming weekend Nov12.

   * 6 Two tiered tops, 1 for each print per doll size - Deadline is this next weekend Nov19.
   * 1 Purple Polka dot dress - Deadline is Nov19.
Productive moment  - every night 10-11pm I should cut patterns already and sew away that weekend.

3. Cocktail dresses and gowns! I should be making at least one for each doll. This is for showcasing at the art trade, too. Don't forget the purses and the jewelry. Deadline is Nov26. Creative moment - I had to design the week before. Source materials before weekend, of course.

4. Need to go to Divisoria to get doll shoes that I can pretti-fy for my gowns and outfits. Deadline is Nov27. Time alloted is 6 hours including travel and munch.

5. Need to make Pants, too. One for each doll size. Deadline is Nov30 - Philippine Holiday YAY!

6. Need to make T-shirts. Two sizes only - Momoko and Barbie. Deadline is Nov30 - Philippine Holiday YAY!

the list goes on and i can't stop it....

7. I don't have enough tops!!! waaaaaaa gotta make a few cute ones. Few. 3, yes. Deadline is Nov30 - I'm not sleeping anymore!

OK, stop.

So today, I'll be making tops. 3. And i should start now. Later!

New outfit and one sale to Spain....

I finally finished something over the long weekend.

This one lists at my Etsy shop for only $15, shipping at $5 from the Philippines.

And oh, the cute purple dress below (hmmm, purples had been occupying me lately...), was sold to a collector in Spain. Neat, eh?

Shasha on White Leggings

lately, i made leggings for the girls. since i didn't want to release them to etsy as mere leggings, i thought of making some more pieces to go with them. until today, i was reluctant with separates, with sportswear - because they just don't tickle my bones. yes, until today.

i discovered polyvore yesterday (but registered and started playing today) and got hooked. instead of cutting my precious vogue pages, i'm dragging items from the site's myriad items - dresses, tops, shoes, bags, accessories, pants - you name it. they even have backgrounds, and magazine pages to adorn your "set". i don't wanna sound like a how-to here. i just wanna say thanks for these kinds of tools. this one, i'd say better than looklet (IMO), will help me facilitate my creations - now that holidays are in the air.
enough of my chitchat. i've made a couple sets earlier.

romper for easy days

i read from somewhere a blogger saying that when her dolls aren't modeling the dresses she makes for them, they spend the days in their birthday suit. i was a little flabbergasted and thought maybe because she's afraid of staining them with her doll clothing. or maybe... they don't have clothes during "off" / no-modeling-schedule days.
well, in my case, i let my girls wear those dresses i make them. yes, they wear party dresses inside my doll box. but i thought, yeah, why let them wear nothing or a not-so-comfy gala dress when they need to chill out during those easy days? hihi so i thought of making rompers.

about 6 months ago, i attempted to make rompers, borrowing patterns from japanese patterns book, only to fail. they made my dolls look like fish retailers at the seaside market.

as always, making your own patters is the best ticket to dolly accomplishment. :)

busy workstation...

my weekends are gonna be busy as my project to make 12 outfits for selling online this Christmas season has just started. been designing non-stop and here's a pick on what i have made so far (not that much yet...)

Aya wearing a luxurious night gown
i finished that white nightgown last weekend. it actually wasn't the intended design, but i'm more than happy i kept improvising until i finally got what i wanted it to look like. but basically, the luxurious, comfortable feel was what i had in mind when i started designing the piece. oh, actually, there's a second piece - can you see through the gown? -  a pretty, little lace boyshort :)
i like the way it fits Aya
a month ago, i also made something new that my girls can wear while i'm busy designing. i came up with a two-piece garment i thought she can wear in a casual party.

Shiori looking so perfect for the outfit
the necklace was something i made like a year back. as usual, this isn't exactly what i had in mind. here, i'm using a velvety belt. in my sketch, i wanted to use the same cotton cloth i used for the pants but i thought it will make her waist too bulky already. i'm happy with the outcome, as always.

about a couple of months ago i transferred my workshop downstairs - i was dumped into a living room corner. but i love it here better. lots of sunshine :) while i'm designing my way to the 12-piece collection, in the mean time, here are the girls taking a break between shots. til next time...

after contemplating on going to fashion school

i instead bought an online sewing workshop subscription that I have also been considering the past two years.
Esewingworkshop.com is having a 30% discount summer sale so i took a chance at a 6-month subscription. here's the link : http://esewingworkshop.com/promotions

im crossing my fingers now because what i'm planning to do is have this by my side while i create my 12-piece doll clothing collection to be launched in the holidays.

ill chronicle everything that i will be doing in the next six months here so, wish me luck.

new japanese pattern books at national bookstore, SM Megamall.....

so i dropped there after work today to check out if the bookstore ever replenished their japanese pattern book shelf. (i had been checking them since about 6 months ago and i always see the same issues) and YES, they did! waaaaaaa i was so wanting to buy one that has the 2010 edition - unfortunately, i was in such a hurry as i was just there to meet hubby (who got himself his hobby book, hmp!) i didn't. hubby was right when he said that tomorrow (friday) is the perfect time to buy so i'll have more time checking out the others.
gaaaahhhh, really nice clothes unlike the old ones i have at home i forced myself into... and of course, i'll be making those clothes for my dolls, not for people. :) the girls should be very happy to hear this news. i'll probably pick an outfit for each of them then work on those this weekend... i probably won't be buying new fabrics and just choose outfits that are perfect for the fabrics i already have. if you could only see me grin now... :D

clearing up the workstation and taking photos,too...

so i finally gave time to clean up my workstation. the sewing area seemed like a dump of everything. for months, it had been neglected since we got home from the holidays. so after cleaning up today, i came up with a new design. but before i start working on it, i might as well take photos of the dresses i've made recently.
Ruched tube dress with beads of belt (belt designed by my friend Shayne)
Venus-cut satin dress with beads on neckline and right sleeve
Satin off-white tube dress with burgundy rose details (necklace designed by my friend Shayne)
Satin off-white tube dress with white roses on neckline (necklace by Shayne)
And after the shoot, here's what the usually girls do:
